The Mauritian Diaspora Scheme
The Government of Mauritius strongly believes that our dispersed Mauritian Diaspora community is a precious asset to our economy. The Mauritian Diaspora Scheme has been set up with the aim of paving the way for members of the Mauritian Diaspora to return to Mauritius in order to participate and boost the economic development of the country.
Eligible members of the Mauritian Diaspora willing to return and work in the country are entitled to the following benefits:
- A ten-year exemption from income tax including
- Exemption from payment of excise duty up to a maximum of MUR 2 million on a car bought locally or abroad
- Exemption from payment of customs duties and VAT on the repatriation of personal belongings
